NT Electrical Contractor License

This course fulfils the requirements to obtain an Electrical Contractors License in the Northern Territory or become a nominee.

The 175a Unit below is completed ‘on line’ and the 197a Unit involves a day in our Training Centre in Winnellie.

The two units of competency are:

The course involves pre-course work which will take about 5 hours. Participants must be able to show that they have a Construction Industry ‘White Card’ as well as a competency in CPR (this may take several forms) before the Statement of Attainment is issued. These can be completed after the course.

  • Business registration requirements – ASIC
  • Taxation – ATO, GST, Employees, Superannuation
  • Insurance – Public Liability, Products and Professional Indemnity
  • Workplace safety – WHS Act NT
  • Licensing – High Risk and Occupational. Territory and Federal jurisdictions
  • Quoting – basic principles
  • Bookkeeping – programs available
  • Customer relations
  • Verification and Testing – as per AS 3017, Service and Installation Rules
  • Workplace Safety-JSA, Risk Assessments, SWMS, AS 3760
  • First Aid, Low Voltage Rescue, CPR
  • Isolation Procedures
  • Metering, Paperwork, Compliance Forms
  • Power Water requirements
  • Switchgear and Earthing
  • NT Worksafe, The Electrical Licensing Board, Inspections and Audits
