A course for electricians, plumbers, 4th year apprentices in those trades to enable them to apply for a refrigerant handling licence to install split-system air conditioners.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
OUTCOMES
Upon completion, you will be able to apply for a Refrigerant Handling Licence. The licence is a restricted Split System Air Conditioning Installation and Decommissioning licence which enables you to legally handle a refrigerant for the installation and decommissioning of single head split systems of less than 18Kwr (Cooling capacity).
The license covers ducted, wall mount, cassette ACs and some heat pump hot water systems.
UNITS OF COMPETENCY
As the course is designed for tradespeople already working in relevant trades we focus the training on 3 units which are specific to installing split air conditioning systems and associated pipework, and commissioning and decommissioning the systems. The remaining 11 units will be gained through credit transfer (CT) or recognition of prior learning (RPL), with further training provided where gaps are identified.
